I finally got a chance to go there yesterday for their sandwich special. Tuesday through Saturday, 3pm to 6pm, all sandwiches on the menu are only $4.49(only $5.99 regular price)! I ordered the pastrami which was tender, perfect fat to meat ratio, not too salty, and generously piled on fresh, thicky sliced jewish rye. The rye bread was perfect for the pastrami. Soft and chewy on the inside with a crisp, crackly crust.
This is a bare bones deli. There are no condiments on the tables. You request mustard on your sandwich when you order. You order and pick up at the counter. The sandwich is served in a basket with a couple of spears of delicious kosher dills. Grab a Dr. Browns Cel-Ray tonic from the cooler in the back and you're in business. I don't see how even the most seasoned Pastrami Snob from NYC could walk away from here without a feeling of satisfaction. And only $4.49! What a cheap fix! I'll be going back to try the brisket and the corned beef. I'll report back. I hope this place holds up to reapeated visits.
