Message: | I have heard mediocre reports from the Santa Monica establishment. I've only been to the S.Oaks one but it's marvelous. Philippe has been running it for some time and it works well. The real bargain is the lunch where you get decent bistrot food for a good price with a $1 extra for a good soup or decent salad. At dinner, I still think the best things are the chicken, the duck breast salad, whatever dish comes with the potato pancakes and the port wine sauce. I also like their profiteroles. If you have money and are in the area of S. Monica, try L.A. Farm. if you're in Sherman Oaks, keep the reservation. The place runs very well there and it has a nice atmosphere, and FOR THE PRICE, the food is quite good (although the prices have been inching up as of late).
