Message: | Border Grill's been around for awhile and it's still abuzz. Owned by the chef's from the show "The Two Hot Tamales", their food is latin based, influenced by their travels through Mexico and such. Although some of the original excitement and freshness about the place has worn off, I still find it's a great neighborhood stand-by. They have alot of great apetizers such as green corn tamales, black bean and plantain empanadas and various ceviches. They usually have pretty good specials including a fresh fish or variation on a southern or latin dish. The margaritas and mojitos are tasty and as I mentioned they have a large table that's sort of lower than normal called the, I think, plateau that is great for large parties. The hot spot for the chef's these days is their downtown restaurant Ciudad, which amazingly I haven't been to yet, but is supposed to be great. But for the Westside, Border is still a hoppin' place with a cheerful interior and good food. |
