Message: | I stopped off last week at Empanada's Place, at Sawtelle and Venice. Argentinian place. The empanadas were great - crispy and almost fluffy - especially the criolla, which, I think, is ground beef, mushrooms, egg, and *ricotta*? Tasty. So I suddenly have an immense desire to find out about and eat more food from everything south of Mexico, which I know nothing about. What are the distinctions between the different cuisines? Where should I go? Especially - I think there's a big Guatemalen and Salvadorean community near my house, part of the Great Holy Eating Column betwixt Vermont and Western - right between Little Armenia and Koreatown. Any recommendations for that area? -thi
