Campanile is without a doubt one of the most overated restaurants in America. Service is unfriendly and often absent. Prices are high (for the experience). Wine list, which used to be chock full of bargains, is now overpriced, esp. for LA. And the food is uneven - some dishes are good, but rarely is the food transcendent or even really delicious.
 
Having said this, I usually enjoy myself there when someone else is picking up the tab.
 
Not on my dime.
