For unsalted butter - I like the Altadena but I really like their raw butter, when available, marketed under the brand name of Stueve's.
And in the kosher markets (like La Brea Market on La Brea near Oakwood) they often have unsalted Kosher butter from France, Deux-Sevres I think. It's great.
 
As a kid, loved the local whipped butters.
