Message: | One summer I practically lived at Vim. Their seafood soup with lemon grass broth (without coconut milk) was almost perfect -- by far the best broth I'd had. The quality of fish was never first rate, but for the price, this was a great deal. I ate there twice a week one summer -- fish soup for dinner was perfect for my diet (I know, a word never to be uttered on these boards.) When I first started going to Vim, Ocha, the restaurant next door, had a line out the door and down the block while Vim was empty. Ocha had the cheaper prices (and the cheaper quality food). Well... Ocha has purchased Vim. Last night I ordered fish soup at Vim. The broth was as I remembered it -- sour and full of flavor. But the fish... the FISH! There wasn't any. There was a piece of white rubber that I couldn't pierce with my fork. There were shreds of boiled tires floating in lemon grass broth. One clam, one mussel, no crab and the shrimp was inedible. So now where do I go for my seafood soup in lemon grass broth fix? Sooner or later, I'm going to want to lose those ten pounds again. Sandra |
