Message: | The hell with Dupar's french toast, oh how I long for a tall stack of their buttermilk pancakes. They (the pancakes) are one of those food memories from the "good old days", about 45 years ago when my grandfather used to take me to the Dupar's in Encino (which has forever been disgraced as a Jerry's Deli) for bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast, *and* a stack. Somehow though, I never seem to be able to recapture the taste of those memorable meals from Dupar's, or any of the other old classics any more. Were the meals that good, or is it just a trick of memory. Favorite pancakes today are at Frisco's on Gale Avenue in City of Industry. Great meat and egg dishes and omlettes, the best breakfast value I know of. Go to Frisco's for lunch or dinner and get a burger and rings, and a chocolate coke with free refils. You may also get a floor show from their roller skating waitresses. |
