Noodle King, at 31 East Valley (just east of Garfield, on the north side of the street), is still very much a going concern. The noodles are good, though not great. For example, the dan dan mian (thin noodles in peanut sauce with scallions and preserved vegetable), are good, gloppy and tasty, but no work of art. The sauce used for the cold sesame noodles is perhaps identical, with some sesame seeds and shredded vegetables tossed aboard. I had the sweet bread (tian shaobing) and rather liked it. The cucumber appetizer is piquant and refreshing. This place is also terrifically cheap.
