Axe, on Abbot Kinney in Venice, serves a 9 grain pancake with real maple syrup. Although it is only available for weekend brunch, it's huge and a cut above typical pancake fare.
 
Dinah's on Sepulveda and Centinela in Westchester, serves oven baked pancakes. While I haven't tried the lemon or banana walnut versions, the large apple cinnamon is easily enough to serve two people.
