Raw beef dish in Korean - yook hwei(transliteration?). If there was rice mixed in and vegetables, yook hwei bibimbap (you can also get bibimbap without raw beef).

A clean place where I first had it when I was first beginning to eat Korean food was Dong Il Jang on 8th St., nice ambience and mostly non-Korean clientele, as I recall. Call them to see if they have the straight Yook Hwei. Also checkout the LATimes Calendar section at www.calendarlive.com for the phrase "authentic ethnic". They did a story a while back on Korean food and it should still be available.
