Roger-Giving out all the names of the best deals is not only a subjective endeavor, but it gives away the fun of the hunt. What I like and what you may like will likely be different. Find a reputable wine store in your area, develope a repore with a salesman, and follow their leads. You can do your own investigative work as well. Buy a couple of wines weekly and taste.
I will suggest that you look at regions rather than wines. Personnaly for QPR (quality-price-ratio) I think excellent examples are found in the Southern Rhone or Cotes du Rhone and Coteaux de Languedoc. Most wines are under $15. Cheers!
