Message: | Don't hate me because I like Buca. The food is definatly not four star gourmet, and not terribly traditional, but it is good. I'm partial to the house Bepo Salad (an antipasto), the lemon chicken, the pizzas (very thin and unusual), and they have an amazing version of a bread pudding. The portions are gargantual, no doubt, but it's all served family style. I think the main attraction to Buca is that it is a great place for a party. The place is covered wall to wall (literally) with "all things Italian" Memorabilia, from the Pope to Sofia Loren and back again. I planned a party for about 100 people at the new one in Santa Monica, and everyone loved the place and said the food was great. I'd recommend it for a fun evening all around. P.S. Don't go with less than a party of 6 or 8, as each dish can easily feed 4. p.s. I find Merrill Schindler amusing, and occasionally he turns me on to something new. |
