You had the misfortune of being there on Taco Night. On Wednesday nights, starting at about 5 p.m., they only charge $1 for a taco. It's a great deal and makes for a decent meal, especially when you also buy drinks. It's worth the wait, I think (but then again I'm biased because I love that restaurant and have been going there for years).
