Message: | while i normally run, scream and hide at the mere mention of "celebrity chef" i just have to plug this great series - and no i don't work for the getty. i just think it's one of the best kept food secrets here in l.a. the restaurant at the getty invites chefs to sign their latest book and then host a three-course, wine optional, lunch of dishes made from recipes from the featured book. i've gone for ruth reichl, anne willan and julia child. except for julia, the signings were unbelievably casual allowing for real conversations rather than your standard sign and step aside routine. and the lunch is really fun - especially with a couple of glasses of good wine - with fellow food people, a beautiful setting, impeccable service and recipes come to life. while i love to cook it's nice to have someone else do the work and do it well. see link for info on mark bittman lunch on 1/23. |
