I haven't heard of any south bay restaurants known for doing the traditional buffet style brunches, but there are several good breakfast cafe's like Martha's mentioned above. Also quite good are Uncle Bill's for pancakes (again, a loooong wait) and Ocean Diner in Hermosa (great muffins).
 
I have noticed the restaurant Beluga in Manhattan does a brunch, but I've never tried it. You might find a slice of cantoloupe there.
