Message: | I second the nomination for Keo's - but there are two so make sure to go to teh right one. There is one in the Ala Moana shopping center on the west side of town - ok foodwise, but the decor is businesslike and the shopping mall location is a pain. The one on the east side of town, inland a bit, is fabulous - romantic atmosphere with each table segregated in its own nook - they have put items like plants and fish tanks between EVERY TABLE it seemed like so that we had a private space. The food was fabulous, and the waiter tactfully suggested that we had ordered too many "sharp" flavored foods and suggested a substitute that turned out to be fabulous. The only thing I remember specifically was the Ong Choi in yellow bean sauce - so spectacular that I sneaked into the book store and copied down the recipe from his book! (I was then too cheap to just buy the book, LOL!) Also, Re Roy's, I found it to be unromantic. A nice space, with lots of glass and a view, but you feel cramped and rushed because it is one big open room with lots of little square tables smashed together in rows (at least when I was there, they may have changed it), and they rushed us through our meal. The food was great if you aren't a stickler for atmosphere. |
