Abbe Normal Survey

What are good generic terms for these things like AbbeNormal that we read and work/play with (noun), and what it is that we are doing when we are reading/writing/creating/publishing to them (verb)?

Weblog sure seems cumbersome as a verb.

Does blog (as a verb) convey any meaning that is not already contained in log, as in to log today's events? Similarly, perhaps to surf is different from to read in so far as one takes advantage of hypertext, but how much additional meaning does to blog convey?
