Message: | Mimosa is by far my favorite authentic french bistro in L.A. However the charcuterie platter is dull and only a shadow of what it used to be. Particular standouts are the the best french onion soup around, as well as a sublime bouillabaise, served with an impressive platter of various fish and shellfish with a separate soup de poisson. Other wonderful dishes are the pork infused macaroni and cheese, the rich and totally satisfying cassoulet served with a leg of duck confit, real slab french cut bacon and sausage, and all the steak cuts are well executed as well. Another very good appetizer is the alsatian tart, a sort of thin crust pizza like tart topped with bacon, cheese and onions. The curried mussels are also worth a try as well. As for dessert, the uninteresting sounding apple tart is absolutely orgasmic, as is the creme brulee (and I am not a fan of the majority of creme brulee's being served at various restaurants). But by all means avoid the dry flourless chocolate cake, which is like a stale old brownie. If you follow these recommendations, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful dining experience there. |
