I bough a bread at Massimo's on Saturday. A Ciabatta. They wrap it in a piece of paper and lovingly tie it with a piece of straw. It was still warm from the oven. It didn't have a leather crust like La Brea. For me that is a good thing. It does have the earthy flavor of a good sourdough made from a variety of different flours. Very compelling and enjoyable. While I was there I HAD to try one of those pine nut studded cookies. It had a marzipan core and with the toasty taste of the pine nuts it was great. My dogs like their doggie cookies too. Bread is $3.00 and cookie is $1.00. Just remember, behind Van's at Washington and Redwood.
