I have to confess. I've been eating at Saigon Sandwich in San Francisco. I crave banh mi. But there don't seem to be any banh mi places on the Westside.
 
So, what are your suggestions? Acceptable range: Westside, LA proper, the Valley, and the upper foothills (Sunland-Tujunga, north Glendale, La Canada, La Crescenta, that area). NOT Westminster, Long Beach, or the SGV, please... too far away from both home and work.
 
And while on the topic - any ideas on Vietnamese places of any sort in the above-mentioned foothill area? My office is in Montrose and I sometimes want pho or bun or banh xeo, but can't find a single place up there.
