Message: | My wife and I go pretty regularly to Il Forno on Ocean Park just West of Centinela in Santa Monica. We like it because it has a really nice outside patio set well back from the street and because the food in good, if not great. I seem to keep coming back for their salmon with champange sauce. On Saturday night they were serving it with potatoes Au Gratin (sp.?) and a really nice medley of perfectly cooked baby carrots, cauliflowers and roasted squash. My wife had one of their specials, ravioli stuffed with porcini mushrooms in a pink sauce. We also both like their ceaser salad, if you don't mind the creamy style dressing, and we get anchovies to take it one step up the tang scale. But probably the nicest part about this past Saturday night was that 17 couples from Samohi were in for an early dinner before going to their prom at the Biltmore downtown. They looked wonderful. The girls were dressed to the nines, hair, shoes and make up. The boys looked great too, if a little bit more uncomfortable that the girls about being dressed in formal ware. We talked to a couple of the girls, one is starting UCLA in the fall and the other is going to SMCC. Both were articlate, charming and friendly What a wonderful added benefit to a nice dinner out. Did we ever look that young? |
