I grew up in Laguna, visit my parents there often and IMHO Not a lot of outstanding places to eat down there. It seems as if the good places disappear in a year or two and the mediocre last forever.
In Laguna there is a new taco stand on Mermaid St. called La Serena which I like. Also Zinc Cafe on Ocean has good salads, baked goods.
My restaurant experiences in Laguna mostly disappointment... catering to middle of the road/ bland /tourist palate.
