Message: | What I crave: 1. J&J; -- for zhejiang vinegar, the crab soup dumplings are almost an afterthought. 2. Shabu Shabu House -- for their secret mirin/ponzu dipping sauce and evenly marbled ribeye for dipping. 3. Yi Mei (don't know English name, near Atlantic and Cadiz) --- for their spicy soy, garlic sauce on sauteed daikon cakes. also for the raw flavors of their plum or almond drinks...makes everything else taste "pasteurized". 4. Yu Tong (don't know English name, corner of Chandler and Garvey -- very green building) --- for their rice vermicelli with pickled cabbage which is not on the menu 5. A favorite sushi place I haven't found yet 6. Pasta Cucina (Irvine) -- for homemade pasta w/ garlic and olive oil 7. Sam Woo -- for steamed lobster and crab cooked any possible way, the preserved egg with pork congee served during dim sum hours 8. Splash Cafe (pismo Beach) -- clam chowder like I had it as a kid, my one indulgence. But bring your own peppermill and oyster crackers. 9. Tecate Grill --- chips and salsa, chorizo and eggs, and a terrible fish taco...but I can't add another taco stand, I've got only one spot left! This is masochistic, I've getting pseudo-stressed about the things I'll never, ever eat again. 10. undecided, but I'll know better after I've taste- tested Zankou's, Mediterranean Cafe some more.
