Message: | After looking at your site Mr. Moore, I get the feeling you really like food, not just grease, and would mention that somewhere on this board it's been pointed out that this is the best area in the world (!) for Asian cuisine. So, you might consider lengthy past threads in that regard. But if it's local color and real grease you are after, here's some more ........Duke's Coffee Shop at Sunset and San Vicente in West Hollywood (sort of an alternative to Barney's Beanery), Toi on Sunset (the real rock n roll Thai) for greasy pad Thai and its own unique ambience, the hickory burger and fries at Apple Pan on Pico in West LA, the tacos at Tito's with red or green (hot) salsa, Sepulveda & Washington Place, Cuban Sandwiches at Porto's in Glendale, greasy Pastrami in the middle of the night at Canter's on Fairfax, Hot Dog on a Stick at the base of the Santa Monica Pier (good for the uniforms alone), and further up the pier some home made greasy chips. Perhaps you should begin your trek at HMS Bounty on Wilshire in Koreatown where at happy hour they have been known to serve thinly sliced rolled up pork chops that shout GREASE! as well as decent drinks and conversation. |
