Message: | Sushiya is an Asian restaurant in Sunset Plaza, West Hollywood. The atmosphere is casual, most non-sushi bar customers sit on the patio, staring at the Sunset Strip. As for sushi, one can save up during the happy hour from 5:30-7:30pm, but $2.99 pricing is limited to pairs of salmon, tuna, and yellowtail nigiri. On my first visit it was under $30 for two people (including drinks and a Thai coconut milk soup). We had a good experience with the m-80 + rock n' rolls -- the variety of nontraditional sushi rolls was our main attraction. My companion returned with someone else later that week, but sadly his dining experience was truly forgettable (he literally can't remember anything he ate there!).
He and I revisited Sushiya (which really means sushi-store, I think) yesterday but we concentrated only on rolls such as the alaska or Beverly roll. I'd post the website, but I deleted it from my favorites once I got home and I can't find it on search engines. Long story short, the fish was good but I was insulted by the fact that I was served cooked salmon on top of one roll. Not as good as sashimi. I may sound illogical right now, so I look forward to reading about others' opinions on this place. As for me, I'm going to stick omakase for a while. |
