We did this in my office a few months back. My original list contains three New York restaurants and at least one LA place I'm reconsidering, so I'll modify it.
 

2117 - a flawless gem
 
Tanino - this is what a chef should look like
 
Yujean Kang's - the Kang is dead; long live the Kang
 
Savoy - corner of Prince & Crosby; eat upstairs
 
Red Cat - I'll never sing "(I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea"
 
In 'n Out - damn right!
 
Bombay Cafe - despite the "new" location
 
Doughboys - for a breakfast that lasts all day
 

Can't decide on a French and a Chinese...
