Message:I know this isn't what you're talking about, but I want to mention two other coconut pastries. Saladang, a Thai restaurant in Pasadena that I really like, has fried bananas (not plantains) in coconut flakes, with a sweet flambé sauce. They're very tasty. Also, Porto's Cuban Bakery on Brand in Glendale has these hard coconut candy/pastry balls that are very nice, too.
