Message: | hmm, interesting... well, i always take my childhood food memories with a grain of salt, because oftentimes it was simply the first time i had tasted a particular food item, and so naturally i would be absolutely enthralled with it, even if its quality was inferior. but i have to say, i was not disappointed with pioneer when i went. the orange color of KFC batter i have always found particularly gross, especially since there tend to be big uncooked blobs lurking about, but i didn't notice it with pioneer. and any extra (cooked) batter i find to be a pleasant surprise. i've never had golden bird, but i also appreciate (and periodically get a big hankering for) zankou chicken. well, actually, not zankou... there was some takeout/deli guy on reseda blvd in the valley that my dad used to get our rotisserie chicken from. his hummus was especially divine. the closest i found here in the northeast was a sad, shriveled, overly salty facsimile... oh the pain. ;-) |
