If you do decide to go, you'll be headed to the SuperMall of San Gabriel (at the corner of Del Mar & Valley, I think). It's an outdoor "mall" of 2 stories with restarants, stores, cafes, etc--all chinese. There's a great beef jerky store, where they serve fresh, home-made varieties (I like the beef tendon one). There's also a bakery and a tea place on the premises.

If you don't feel like Islamic Chinese (though Carolyn is right and the food is wonderful and worth the drive), there are many, many other restaurants in this mall to choose from. Sam Woo on the top floor of the plaza serves dim sum. I can't remember the name, but there's also a Mandarin restaurant with good noodles and a picture of Arnold Schwarzenneger on the door. Avoid Hot Pot City though--despite the good review from the LA Times, this place will only give you a stomachache.
