Message: | I had a fantastic trip across the country, culinary-wise. First, I took the 40 through the south. Probably a better food-route than yours. Highlight: Interstate BBQ in Memphis, some steakhouse by the stockyards in Oklahoma city. But: I had a secret. I will pass it on to you: Rough Guide USA. Most guidebooks - Frodor's, Frommer's, whatever - have the worst and assiest food reccs ever. Worse than Zagats. Touristy hellholes. But whoever put together Rough Guide USA (I can't speak for the other Rough Guides) really knew their food. I had consistently sensational eats throughout. Very surprised. -thi |
