OK, ok....so the food is not the draw here (anymore). (The "banquet food" comments in particular coaxed a gag reflex out of me.) Thanks to all for the hot tips.
 
On the other hand, since my drive from Pasadena to Santa Monica could also be acheived via the 101 (and Ventura Blvd) is it worth stopping in for a friday-afternoon drink at the bar? Your thoughts?
 
One can always grab a decent lunch at the numerous other establishments that are in the area: Bob's Big Boy, the Hot Dog Show, Carney's, Casa Vega, the Robin Hood, among others....
