Message: | In the greater LA area, the best pho will be in Little Saigon in Orange County. But in LA proper, you'll find good stuff in the San Gabriel Valley. Unfortunately, can't remember at the moment the name of my favorite place there. It's across from the giant mall at Valley and Del Mar, on Valley Blvd. Be careful, there are two pho places and the one I'm referring to sits alone (not in a minimall) and is on a street corner. The pho is clear and strong-tasting. The beef comes out raw, fanned out on a plate so you can decide yourself when to put it in your soup. Also, Jonathon Gold really liked Golden Deli, which I believe is at the corner of Las Tunas and San Gabriel Blvds. Personally, I enjoy Pho 999. The broth is aromatic and wonderful (my barometer is not very scientific, namely, if I stick my chopstick into the broth when it gets cold, does it still taste good?) Plus, their sprouts, basil, etc are usually very fresh, plump and clean so I give them extra points. I'm sorry to hear you didn't like Pho 999. What was wrong? |
