I have not tried to get the discount yet, but it should be real. Go to the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau page (http://www.lacvb.com/) and click on the DineLA button. I checked there and found the restaurant you mentioned (Bombay Cafe) was still listed as Thursday only for the discount. I wish you luck.
