Koizumi adds new faces to Cabinet

The financial affairs minister is replaced to hasten a solution of the bad-loan debacle.

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, seeking to resolve the bad-loan crisis, dumped his financial affairs minister in a Cabinet reshuffle Monday and ignored the bleatings of factions in his ruling party. (October 1)
