keep it in
hold your breath
expand the lungs
consrict the mind
hold that thought
the thought
those thoughts

amplified tension
deceiving laughter
truths doubted
fading passion
drained energy
and more...

let go
relax
soothe

one feels life
life
laughter
passion
energy

feel life
continue the flow
of life

with a breath...

on crowded streets
sidewalk turbulence
pounding against concrete

it is
his distinctive tread—

of instinctive body rhythms
the pulse of blood
pumping through veins
the twang in his gait
or flow of limb and joint
motion in harmony
like patterns of a groove
the rise and fall of each step
synchronized to the cadence of his own song—

stepping out of beat
of pedestrian traffic

that
i remember most

may every broken heart, lost battle, fallen soldier, homeless warrior, wandering orphan, reviled dream, petty failure, haunting ghost, untold horror, tired walking, desperate longing, slow fading, closed door, denied entrance, the final good-bye, the constancy of death, the repeated endings... may each and every one strip you of your arrogance and cowardice, and when you are raw, and bare, and trembling with truth— begin again.
