City drafts housing plan MONTEREY
Monterey officials are eyeing 20 acres in Ryan Ranch and two acres downtown as potential sites for new homes, possibly for city employees. An annual progress report on the city's housing programs singles out the Ryan Ranch office park and the former Tynan Lumber Co.

Mother, son die in plane crash
A mother and son from the Monterey Peninsula were killed Nov. 15 when their airplane crashed into a lagoon along the Sea of Cortez off Baja California.
