HEISMAN HOPEFULS  


   Miami teammates Dorsey, McGahee lead Heisman finalists
Quarterback Ken Dorsey and tailback Willis McGahee made more history Wednesday for the University of Miami when the Downtown Athletic Club invited them to the Heisman Trophy ceremony Saturday night at the Yale Club in New York.

DePaul coach Doug Bruno wasn't ready to celebrate just yet after his team defeated eighth-ranked Notre Dame 75-59 Wednesday night.

George Washington Tops BYU 82-58
Ugo Oha scored 25 points and Erica Lawrence added a season-high 17 as No. 24 George Washington beat No. 22 Brigham Young 82-58 Wednesday night.

UConn Rallies to Beat UMass 59-48
Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun learned a lot about his young team's resiliency.

No. 9 Vanderbilt 98, Wis.-Milwaukee 51
Abi Ramsey scored 15 of her career-high 18 points in the first half, when ninth-ranked Vanderbilt established a huge cushion en route to a 98-51 victory Tuesday night over Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

No. 12 Kentucky 76, Tulane 60
Keith Bogans enjoyed the trip to New Orleans. He just hopes he can have two more good games here - in the Southeastern Conference Tournament and the Final Four.

No. 15 Illinois 80, E. Illinois 68
Freshman Dee Brown scored 25 points - including 12 of 19 as Illinois took control early in the second half - and Brian Cook added 21 as the Fighting Illini beat Eastern Illinois 80-68 Tuesday night.

No. 23 Texas 86, TCU 54
After a 2-2 start prompted a whole lot of questions, No. 23 Texas finally found what it was looking for Tuesday night in an 86-54 win over TCU.

No. 11 Penn St. Beats Saint Joseph's 82-56
Kelly Mazzante scored 30 points, and 11th-ranked Penn State used a pair of 10-0 runs to suppress St. Joseph's in an 82-56 victory Tuesday.

No. 9 Conn. Rallies to Beat Mass. 59-48
Ben Gordon scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half as No. 9 Connecticut rallied from 21-point deficit to beat Massachusetts 59-48 Tuesday night.
