President Bush Nominates Stuart Bernstein to be Ambassador to Denmark
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Stuart Bernstein to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Denmark.
"The strong relationship between the United States and Denmark will be further enhanced with Stuart Bernstein as U.S. Ambassador. His experience in international affairs and trade policy, and his commitment to civic activity, make him an excellent choice for this post," said the President.
Bernstein is the Chairman of the Bernstein Companies in Washington, D.C. He was appointed by former President Bush to serve as Trustee of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 1992 and serves as the Co Chairman of the Development Committee. From 1991 to 1992 he was a Commissioner for the International Cultural and Trade Center Commission. Bernstein is a past member and Vice Chairman of the American University Board of Trustees and has been an active leader of the Weizmann Institute of Science since 1977. He is presently a board member of the Anti-Defamation League of B'Nai B'rith. A Washington, D.C. native, he is a graduate of American University.
