Budget crunch cuts into pet projects
One thing appears clear in the 2003 Legislature: It won't be the year of the turkey. Skimpy revenue projections for 2003-04 are doing for lawmakers' local pet projects -- dubbed ''turkeys'' -- what four years of Gov. Jeb Bush's $1 billion worth of line-item vetoes have not.
