For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
June 14, 2002

Statement by the President

Congressman Pat Toomey's concern for the steel retirees he represents is reflected in provisions of the Export-Import Bank Reauthorization bill, S. 1372, that I signed into law today.

These provisions will ensure the Export-Import Bank will no longer provide financing to projects that would have an adverse effect on already beleaguered domestic industries such as the steel industry.
