Nomination
President Bush to Nominate Watt to be Ambassador of the United States to the Republic of Panama

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Linda Ellen Watt to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Panama. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, she has served as the Political Advisor at SOUTHCOM. Immediately prior to this assignment, she participated in the Department of State's Senior Seminar. From 1997 to 2000, Watt was Deputy Chief of Mission in the Dominican Republic. Her previous assignments include service as Deputy Executive Director of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Administrative Officer in Moscow, administrative officer in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Watt received an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and a Master's degree from the University of New Mexico.
