In July and August consumption of ammunition of the Wehrmacht forces at Soviet front reached the maximum in the period of WWII. That supply of ammunition was 90,000 tons greater than the standard one. |

| The German Fascist Command kept on strengthening of a force, headed for Prokhorovka. Best formations were concentrated there: armoured divisions “Reich”, “Dead Head”, “Adolph Hitler” and main forces of 3rd Tank Corps. This body of troops was equipped with the Tiger tanks and Ferdinand self-propelled guns.
Advanced battalions of Bryansk front forces and left of West front forces started operations.
