Bagramjan Ivan Hristoforovich, marshal(1955)
(1897 - 1982)
The marshal of Soviet Union (1.3.1955), the Hero of Soviet Union (1944).
He was born in the family of the railway worker.
Education:
advanced training courses of the supreme staff (1925)
Frunze Military academy (1934)
Military academy of the General HQ (1938).
In 1915 he was called up for military service as the ensign. In 1918 it is demobilized. In 1918-20 served in the Armenian republic. In 1920 joined the Red army and was the commander of a cavalry troop. In 1923-31 was the Commander of the Cavalry regine of the Armenian shooting division. Since 1931 has held a post of the Chief of HQ of the Cavalry division in Ukraine. Since 1938 has worked as a teacher of tactics in Military academy of the General HQ. Since 1940 has been the Chief of operations section of Kiev Special command.
1941-1945:
1942- the Chief of HQ of the Southwest front.
July 1942 - the Commander of 16th (11th Guards) Army
1943 - the Commander of the 1st Baltic front
1945 - the Commander of Zemlandsk Group of armies
1945 - the Commander of the 3rd Byelorussian front.
In 1945-54 Bagramjan was the Commander of the armies of Baltic command
In 1954-55 - the Chief inspector of the Ministry of Defence of the USSR. Since 1955 Bagramjan was the Deputy of the Minister of Defence of the USSR, 1956 - the Dean of Voroshilov Military Academy.
Bagramjan is the author of 7 books, including "the Great victory of Soviet people" (1970.)
