T-34 in battle
The Tigers have not been used with their advantage of more powerful equipment. So they have been destroyed by soviet manoeuvrable and fast medium tanks T34. Large quantity of soviet tanks astonished the enemy.
ammunition
In July and August consumption of ammunition of the Wehrmacht forces at Soviet front reached the maximum in the period of WWII. That supply of ammunition was 90,000 tons greater than the standard one.

Alexander Gorbatov, General
(1891-1973)

The Commander of 3rd Army of the Byelorussian front, Colonel-General was born in 1891 in Ivanovsk region in a family of a peasant. At the age of 14 Gorbatov had to earn his living. He joined the Russian Army in 1912. He served in a hussar regiment and rose to the rank of corporal. In 1918 he joined the Red Army and took part in the battles against Denikin and Petlura. Gorbatov was appointed a commander of a cavalry platoon, a commander of a cavalry troop; in 1920 he reached the rank of a commander of a regiment and a commander of cavalry division. In 1926 he graduated from the Cavalry Officer’s Courses and in 1930 – Advanced Courses of the officers. In 1937 Gorbatov has been wrongfully subjected to repression and sentenced to imprisonment in Kolyma. In 1940 he was released from prison and restored in his duties. Gorbatov has been appointed a Deputy of a Commander of rifle corps. From the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War Gorbatov served at the West front. Gorbatov has planned several operations of gaining the rear of the enemy. In 1943 Gorbatov was given the rank of lieutenant-general and appointed the Commander of a Rifle Corps. Then Gorbatov has been appointed the Commander of 3rd Army of 2nd Byelorussian front. Gorbatov’s army participated in the battle of Kursk (Orel, Bryansk and Bobruysk operations), annihilated forces of the enemy near Minsk and captured Belostok. After WWII Gorbatov was the town major of Berlin, the Commander of the army, a command. In 1955 Gorbatov was appointed General of the Army. General Gorbatov was given the rank of the Hero of the USSR, 3 Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, 4 Orders of the Red Banner, 2 Orders of Suvorov (I), Orders of the Red Star and others.
