The final tee-ball game in the third season at the White House occurred on Sunday, September 7. The first tee-ball game on the South Lawn happened on May 7, 2001 and featured two teams from Washington, DC -- the Memphis Red Sox (from the Satchel Paige Little League) and the Rockies (from the Capitol City Little League).
Tee-Ball at the White House is designed to foster a spirit of teamwork and service for America's youth, and to help generate interest in America's pastime.
President Bush has a long history of involvement in baseball. He is the first former Little Leaguer to be elected President of the United States, and he is the former managing general partner of the Texas Rangers major league baseball team.
