Der Zeit Mann Mod
posted by spec|ter @ 20:39:50 | Category: Modifications | Comments: 1

We have received word that a relatively unknown Mod, Der Zeit Mann, has been released. I'll leave it to creator Kevo-sama to describe it.

Picking up where the movie left off, you play as Kevin, a human who, after stealing a triangular time traveling device, has found himself in the future; a future where humanity has become the dominant force in the universe, and where the Kesians are valiantly resisting the human push into their space. Chose your alliances carefully as you weave through an intricately woven future of trust, ambition, and deceit, for it is in your hands which the future of these two species resides...

This sounds pretty sweet if you ask me. The mod features:
-Three playable levels, three endgames, and three other maps.
-Full voice acting; every character every line!
-New code; for a more immersive futuristic setting.
-Ginglish; in keeping with the movie, some elements are still in German!
-Try to find the invisible gun - there's only one!
-Unsupported, buggy, and LAN only multiplayer!

All in all this is definitely worth a look. Download the mod at our own edgefiles.com And as always check out the post about the mod on the DXG Forums.

Deus Ex: 2027 Project site update
posted by jamie @ 07:12:55 | Category: Modifications | Comments: 0

The Deus Ex: 2027 Project website has been updated with news and screenshots on the Resurrection mod. Here's the update:

I've decided to show some of the Resurrection screenshots to the public.
You can see only a small part of add-on's features and components on these screens.
Release date of the Resurrection add-on is 2004July. I've decided to delay it a bit to complete as much work on re-texturing and implementing new techs as possible. But even now DX with installed Resurrection looks really nice.

Head to the Deus Ex: 2027 Project website to check out more.

More on Ion storm
posted by jamie @ 07:06:20 | Category: General | Comments: 7

To find out more about the Ion Storm problems that everyone is now talking about, Planet DeusEx have had a word with Harvey "Witchboy" Smith (former Lead Designer on Deus Ex and Project Director on Invisible War). Here's what they said:

An attempt to get a comment from Harvey "Witchboy" Smith (former Lead Designer on Deus Ex and Project Director on Invisible War) on the current events at ISA only rendered the comment "I do know all about what's going on, but don't want to comment; I feel it would be unprofessional." However, a subsequent attempt to at least get something useable out of him produced the following rather interesting bit of information:

"I am in the process of starting a new company. I am far from done... Deus Ex changed the world and I want to do that again."

Sounds good, no?

That is very interesting to hear.

Ion Storm troubles
posted by jamie @ 03:30:55 | Category: General | Comments: 4

Big News for the Deusex community today. Shacknews is reporting that there are some big troubles going on at Ion Storm. It seems that 22 people in the company are leaving or being laid off, this includes Warren Spector as well. Here's what they said:

Multiple sources tell us that all is not well at Deus Ex & Thief 3 developer ION Storm. Apparently some 20 - 25 people have been laid off at the Eidos owned Austin based developer. That's not all though as Warren Spector is said to be leaving the company as well. If we receive any more details we'll be sure to post them.
Update: Other sites have confirmed with Eidos that people have been let go, though Eidos denies that Spector is going anywhere.
Update 2: More details are coming in. It looks like people leaving/being laid off is just the start of it, as the company is also changing names..and going PS2 development only.

Only going into PS2 development! Thats bad news for us pc users. Post your comments and tell us what you think.

UPDATE: More news can be found about this story at Gamespot.

Planet DeusEx Fanfic
posted by jamie @ 05:49:01 | Category: General | Comments: 1

Planet DeusEx has posted up a new Fanfic entitled Behind Closed Doors. Here's a snippet from that:

He picked up the pile of papers on his desk and straightened them up. He couldn't understand what the need of all this paperwork was, but he knew that every time he returned from a mission he was supposed to fill in a ton of those and submit them for his superiors to read. He rushed to finish this one; he’d been in his office for less than an hour today, being severely annoyed of doing yet more paperwork, but the Staff Office needed to collect the reports from all the agents that had been in the field the day before, so the writings could be forwarded to the Director for review. He went through his paper again. If he likes it, he thought as he stood up.

Head to Planet DeusEx to read all of that.
