In July and August consumption of ammunition of the Wehrmacht forces at Soviet front reached the maximum in the period of WWII. That supply of ammunition was 90,000 tons greater than the standard one. |

Prokhorovka battle |

The tank battle at Prokhorovka was won by the Soviets. This battle caused heavy tolls for the Wehrmacht: a great number of soldiers and almost 400 tanks. |

As Stavka of the Soviet Supreme High Command has ordered, Reserve Steppe front was put into operation.
11th Guard Army, having repulsed an attack of 18th and 20th Tank armies and 25th motorized division of the Germans, penetrated 70 km into the south and southeast.
To develop Bryansk Front 3rd guard Tank Army under the command of Lieutenant-General Rybalko was brought into action.
