In Central America there is a route taken by more and more young backpackers. Thousands of people in their twenties come from all over the world to rediscover the continent. Every trip being unique, the backpackers end up having many similar adventures. Whether one is just starting the trip or about to leave, everyone should be [Travel Journal]

Radio For Peace International is being evicted from a UN University
Cencorship on UN territory

The members of Radio for Peace International (RFPI), an American radio station broadcasting "the voice of the voiceless" internationally from San José, Costa Rica, have been occupying their station's building for the past two weeks to protest against an eviction ordered by the University for Peace (UPeace), a United Nations created organ. The [Travel Journal]
Another place of interest is a lagoon on the north coast of Jamaica called Glistening Waters. There is a restaurant out front but you would pass it and not notice this jewel of a location. Between Ocho Rios and Discovery Bay the lagoon has phospholuminescent plankton and at night you if you throw pebbles it trails to the bottom with light and you can see the [Travel Journal]
Well, we just finished seeing Tikal and it was really fantastic. We started by getting hooked up with a fantastic guide who spoke beautiful English and was very unhurried from the outset (a significant difference from the rushed guide at Copan). He gained aour confidence right away by saying that he would not only give us a tour of Tikal but also of the natural [Travel Journal]
Well, I just wrote a marathon blog on Utila but lost it all due to a copy/paste mistake. But a quick (and random) summary:

1)Diving on Utila is fantastic. The schools are great, and even though the reef is not super-incredible in terms of sea life, it is definitely worth learning here.

2)Nausea and ear problems need not stop you! (You [Travel Journal]
So today was actually my third day on this very pleasant island north of the Honduran coast. The sole reason Jesse and I came here was to learn how to dive, Utila (and Roaton, the biggest of the Bay Islands) being world-renowned for being the cheapest and one of the most beautiful places in the world to dive. But before we get to that, just [Travel Journal]

Copan

Central America : Honduras : West : Copan Ruinas
Well, my visit to Copan today with my girlfriend started with a proposition by an English speaking guide to join a preexisting group of people for a tour. This took place right outside the admission center for tickets. Within five minutes though, the terms of the agreement had changed leaving half the group angry about the bait-and-switch. In the end, we all went [Travel Journal]

Sunset Over Flores
Sunset Over Flores
The bus for Flores leaves Rio Dulce fairly regularly - every 1 1/2 hours. We had decided to catch the 9am. At 8.30am we met Alexandro he was driving to Flores and offered us a lift. Alexandro is currently a tobacco salesman but would like to be President of Guatemala, really interesting conversations in the pickup on the nature of democracy, the quality of the education [Travel Journal]
Tikal
Tikal
The wonder of Guatemala, the most talked about Mayan ruins in existence, the largest, the most impressive this is Tikal. In its day the city of Tikal was the most important in the entire region. Most of the buildings were built in the 700's, but archaeologists have found evidence of habitation as far back as 130 BC, roads or something.

Tikal stretches though out several [Travel Journal]
