 Messaging and Collaboration

Microsoft® Windows® Messaging and Collaboration features provide application developers with client-side e-mail, calendaring, contacts, and other collaborative capabilities.

Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) is a Microsoft technology for building messaging or collaboration applications. Microsoft Windows NetMeeting allows real-time collaboration through standards-based client support of data, audio, and video Internet conferencing. The Microsoft Windows 2000 SMTP and NNTP services provide a high performance, component-based event architecture for message processing, delivery, and relay. And Microsoft Windows Messenger coordinates Toast Pop-ups between multiple clients; includes the Messenger service APIs using Messenger Lock and Key; provides a way to run peer-to-peer applications for any two Messenger client users with Messenger Session Invite; and provides a mechanism that helps you register your communications application when it is loaded.
